3D model description

Introducing the attachment that will save you hours of cleanup. Upon testing the newly purchased Central Machinery 4"x36" belt and disk sander, I was shocked to find that it was almost unusable because of the amount of sawdust it produced. I was forced to put on some sealed safety goggles and a gas mask. To solve this problem, I designed a small attachment that allows you to connect a Wet/dry Vac up to your belt sander. It has an OD of 58mm to fit inside larger vac tubes, and an ID of 45.5mm to fit around smaller vac tubes. Now, all of the sawdust just gets sucked up the the vacuum. This makes your cleanup much easier. The bent part at the top of the attachment connects to a 5/8" ID flexible tube which then connects to the bottom guard on the disk sander, allowing you to collect ALL of the sawdust. For more information on the Central Machinery 4"x36" belt and disk sander and how to install this, check out our Unboxing, Assembly, Review, and Modification video.

If none of the measurements above fit your shop vac, easily modify it by changing the ID and OD variables at the top of our public Onshape design

Note: Photos are of an earlier version. Current design has a few minor changes.

Update: 1/8/2018 Because of high demand, I've designed a custom version for 1 1/4" fitting for smaller vacs. I've also increased the thickness of all of the walls to ensure that they don't break upon installation.

Infill:

Notes:
Sadly, this design requires a good amount of supports. If your slicing program does not have good supports, I would strongly suggest that you look into Simplify 3D. It is a bit expensive but is totally worth it. Both supports and rafts on it just snap right off while giving you complete control over your print. When you do slice it, make sure that it is standing upward on the build platform to minimize supports and reduce print time (bent part should be at the top).
