3D model description

A 67mm (x 0.75mm) threaded ring to hold old non-threaded Series 8/VIII, (2½″) filters up to 5mm thick.
Series filters were the standard imperial guage filter sizes from 1930s through to 1970s. Sometimes they were just cylindrical glass and sometimes with a protective metal ring.
Series 8/VIII solid ring size = ø2½″ or ø63.6mm x 0.2" (~5mm) thick.

[note. threaded Series VIII filters will sometimes fit E67 filter rings but have a 36 tpi-pitch compared to the 32 tpi (ø.75mm) of E67 filters].

I had some high quality Series VIII filters, I now use them with this holder screwed into a 67>72mm step ring (which is an easier thread to work with than a 3D printed one!).

3D printing settings

FDM: the fine thread needs a high res print (I used 0.1mm on a 4mm extruder, and the thread was too tight..). A second version, slightly under size (the included 66-8 file) fitted fine. An alternative is to anneal the print and it will shrink slightly.
