3D model description

These are visualisation models for the major sugar molecules. These are in printable editions for single and dual extrusion. The dual extrusion models will still need a bit of white paint for the smaller hydrogen molelcules.

Carbohydrates and Sugars

Carbohydrates include sugars, starch and cellulose. Sugars can be classified as monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides and oligosaccharides.

Monosaccharides can include Glucose, Fructose and Galactose. Disaccharides can be made by combining the monosaccharides. Glucose and Galactose only differ slightly as they are epimers.

Glucose + Fructose = Sucrose
Glucose + Galactose = Lactose
Glucose + Glucose = Maltose

Long chain of ordered Glucose (alpha Glucose) = Starch
Long chain of Glucose (beta Glucose) = Cellulose

Lesson Plan and Activity
Lesson Ideas

These models can be used to teach the basics of biological building blocks and chemical structures.
