Description
This beautiful portrait of classical spirit is of an unknown woman. Her head is veiled above the front a band pierced with two enigmatic fixing holes. A diadem or other attribute was probably attached to this place. A. Du Mege suggested that this piece was done during the 1835 due to the arrangement of the hair. The hair was decorated with diadem as can be seen in the female portraits of the last third of the first century, under the Flavian emperors.
Daniel Cazes, 2005.
