3D model description

Given the numbers {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}, arrange them into a triangular pattern so that the sum of the three numbers on each side of the triangle add up to the same total. The puzzle is known as the "Magic Triangle". Of course, one should also check out the famous magic square.

Magic Triangle is a simple puzzle appropriate for kids of all ages, inviting them to think about the basic patterns behind numbers-- large vs small, odd vs even, rotation, reflection, etc. It is not easy but it is fun and mind-opening! There are four related solutions. I posed the problem to a group of young children, who solved them after many trials and errors. I had to use a sheet of many triangles. Now, I think it is just helpful to make a 3D model, to save paper and facilitate explorations. Have fun and enjoy the art of mathematics!
