This statue takes reference to the 1937 poem of the same name by John Milton. In this work, the subject is depicted watching bathing nymphs. A couple of copies were made after its rejection from The Royal Academy in 1905, where one bronze was shared with The Tate by Sir Michael Sadler, a collector or modern art.
