3D model description

Finally, the moment video game fanatics world-wide have been waiting for: an awesome Legend of Zelda Prop. And what better item to represent all of the awesome glory of this Legendary game series than the Clawshot!

Let me ask you a question that I have often struggled with over the years: have you ever dreaded coming to work in the morning whilst in the middle of an epic Legend of Zelda play-through? OF COURSE YOU HAVE. This is normal. However, I have finally created a solution to this problem. Now if you print this prop you can enjoy the very spirit of the Zelda games from the discomfort of your office environment. If you have to be there anyway, you might as well let your brain wander from the harsh reality!

WARNING: MAY CAUSE SEVERE DISTRACTION THAT COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF EMPLOYMENT.

3D printing settings

The models for this are HUGE. I advise not printing them full size. The model that I have created were all printed at Half Scale. I created the 3D models from a couple screenshots of my favorite Zelda games using Solidworks.

I used a Makerbot Replicator 2X printing White ABS to create this model. All parts were printed on LOW settings with 10% infill (hexagonal honeycomb default) and a Raft. The only model that used support was the claw, but it cleaned up nicely.

There are two different chain models. I printed the first one and thought it looked disproportionate, so I made a smaller chain and just used two of them. The choice is up to you.

PLEASE NOTE THE CHAIN MODELS ARE ALREADY AT HALF SCALE. ALL OF THE OTHER MODELS ARE AT FULL SCALE. PLAN ACCORDINGLY WHEN PRINTING.

I used CA glue to assemble and Acrylic paints (79 cents at Hobby Lobby) to dress it up.

I printed all of these models in about 2 days (off and on).

Please upload your makes - I want to see how much better everyone is at painting than I am :)
