3D model description

Update: 7/27/2018:
By request, I added a 'short' version of the 100rd box, this 'short' version is 'only' 147mm long.
I'm working on a 50rd version of it now :)

IMPORTANT: I recommend that you PLEASE SCALE +2-4%! (102% - 104%) and read the print settings - particularly if you are printing with materials that shrink/warp a lot to ensure a good fit.

Hello!

Thank you for taking a look at my 'thing'.

I looked around for an ammo box for .22LR rounds, and even though there are great designs out there, I couldn't find one that I was truly happy with. One of the best designs I was able to find was one from EvolvingExtrusions - I really liked the general idea and the looks, but I wanted to pack it in a box as small as possible.
I also wanted a system that would allow me to easily draw 10rds at a time. Something that'd lock, easily stack, and lightweight.

So I gave it a shot with Fusion 360 - I really like the hex approach. I measured everything carefully to find the best compromise between sturdiness, usability and size. After 9 other prototypes I landed with this design.

I hope you like it, and I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments - particularly improvement ideas!

Max.

PS: Yes, the gun in the pic is not a .22 :D - It's a HK VP9 - I felt too lazy to go grab the .22 :D 2

3D printing settings

My recommended print settings:
- Minimum 2 perimeters
- at least 4 top and bottom layers
- 10-15% infill
- 0.15-0.25mm layer height
- PETG or PLA
- Printing the lid 'standing up (with the 'end' facing the bed) will give you a more durable lid, since the flex will happen perpendicular to the printing layers instead of alongside it. This is recommended if printing with 'weaker' types of materials or materials that are too rigid or offer poor layer adhesion.
