3D model description

In honor of the release of the latest Daft Punk album, I wanted to print a set of helmets. I couldn't find a decent mesh on thingiverse (I AM DISAPPOINT), so I put this together.

This is a ready to print model of Thomas Bangalter's Daft Punk Helmet. I don't think the two Robots have names, so I've been calling it the visor mask.

I gave these out as party gifts, who doesn't like a little daft punk?

The model is just dying for remixes. Keychains, magnets, gear shift knobs, lets do this people!

Check out the readme for descriptions of each file.

3D printing settings

I would first like to say thanks to Aaron for his excellent model as a starting point:

I started with Aaron's STEP file, added an interior shell, pushed it through netfabb cloud to get it print ready, and flattened the backside of the helmet. There is also a version with modeled support for the ears. The photos include pictures of this model, as well as one I printed level with full support. I had to use needle nose pliers to remove the modeled support, but I thought the end result looked better than printing level w/ full support.

The STL's are reasonably highres, but I've only printed this about the size of a golf ball. As soon as I can find the time, I'll print a larger version.

If you want to print this full size and wear it around, you will need to remodel the interior.

Let me know if these give you trouble, or would like any other file formats.

For the matching set, print Guy's helmet as well:

Happy printing!
