Atop an elegant base sits an undulating ribbon, flowing through three lattice arches in one cohesive, sculptural form - Interwoven Bliss.
The intent behind this design was to create a two-piece trophy that works together, wholly as one. With a ribbon intertwined beneath the arches, this design achieves this goal with it’s light and playful form. A dancing design that provides visual interest from all sides, Interwoven Bliss is a testament to the innovative solutions 3D printing provides.
As the renderings suggest, Interwoven Bliss, has three main parts to the overall design: the base, ribbon, and arches. The arches and the base are to be printed as one piece using MJF printing technologies; the ribbon is to be printed using SLA technologies. Once the two pieces are printed, the ribbon shall be slid into place underneath the arches, unifying the trophy.
Important Design Notes:
- The base, while relatively simple, allows for inscriptions to be placed along all four sides, and can be altered.
- Along with ribs to highlight the undulating curve, the ribbon has been hollowed out to showcase translucent materials.
- The twist of the lattice arches have been designed a manner that allows for the ribbon to slide in underneath.
- Considering this is a two-piece trophy, the design takes into account the assembly of the pieces. On top of the base is an extrusion aligned with ribbon’s internal cavity, assuring the fit of the two pieces.
