3D model description

Just what you needed! A railway chassis for your motorbike.

A little while ago I posted a set of 3D printed railway bogies(https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/narrow-gauge-powered-bogie-set) with the intention of incorporating them into a larger project. This larger project was to build a deck and attach a 1:18 scale motorbike model from Maisto. Here then is the final result, a detailed model railway chassis that could be adapted to other motorbike models.

I should also stress THIS MODEL DOES NOT INCLUDE THE MOTORBIKE. The motorbike is an old Maisto model I bought years ago. There are some good 3D printed motorbike models around that might lend themselves to this project. For instance Hex17 has a nice one here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2248854

This package is self contained and includes the railway bogie models, so you don't need to rush off and download them as well.

When you are faced with a mountain of pieces and wondering how they go together you can find assembly instructions as a zipped up pdf in the download package or take a trip over to my website for an article on this model as well as assembly instructions. https://www.techmonkeybusiness.com/articles/3D_Printed_Railbike.html

Each STL filename includes the number of times that piece needs to be printed. I have designed it so that no support is required.

Have fun

BTW: if you would like to print tracks for this use the following links to my parametric railway track generator to dial up some that suit your needs. the gauge is 36mm.

3D printing settings

No support is required for printing this.
The model chassis in the photographs was printed at 0.3mm layer height and 15% fill.
The filenames include the number of times you need to print each bit. For instance, 3DPrintedRailbike-BuffersRailsx2.stl needs to be printed twice.
Yep. you will end up with quite a few pieces but don't worry none of them take that long to print.
You will also need some wire and dowels for the axles and various cables.
