3D model description

Size: 232x257x157 mm (assembled)

Files: Solar system.zip (total 30 stl files, designed for 150 x 150 mm print-bed printing)

Printer: Cubicon Style

Material: PLA natural

Layer height 0.2 mm, Wall thickness 1.2 mm, Infill 20%, Support needed, Raft / brim not needed

Note:
7 prints of Connect.stl have to be prepared. These parts are necessary for connecting bottom panel parts and wall parts with each other.

The solar system we’re in is so vast that the earth looks just like a tiny particle compared to the sun. It is so extensive that the orbit of Mercury is just one-eightieth of that of Neptune.
I tried to visualize this greatness with a 3D model. This model has two aspects: first, it shows the relative sizes of the sun and its planets; second, it shows planet orbits’ relative sizes and inclinations.

You will find that:
- planet orbits are elliptical and are shown in 1:80 trillion scale,
- planet sizes are shown in 1:2 billion scale,
- actual diameter of each planet and its average distance to the sun ((Rp+Ra)/2) are inscribed in Km unit,
- Saturn ring’s inclination (27 degrees) is shown, and
- the orbital inclination of each planet is also shown (Mercury 7.01, Venus 3.39, Earth 0, Mars 1.85, Jupiter 1.31, Saturn 2.49, Uranus 1.77, Neptune 1.77 degrees).

You can print and color each part and then assemble.

I hope this model will help you, especially school children, with gaining better sense of reality.

Thank you and enjoy!
