3D model description

Predator Fish - ready for 3D printing !!! 8)

Can be used as a storage of small things or as a sugar bowl or a box for sweets

I print on a 3D printer using fdm technology and made a model specifically for printing, taking into account the capabilities of 3D printers

I really like functional models, moving or with a feature. In the model of predatory fish, I made a movable jaw with fixation in the upper position (closed)
Fish prints with the jaw and mechanics at a time (one part). Support is used (optimal angle is 55 degrees of building support). The parts are arranged so that after printing you need to separate the support and you will get movable mechanism

You need to print the files:
Fish is the largest file, I attached Gcode photos, then I will describe the print settings in detail.
Upper and lower jaw teeth
Eyes left and right and two pupils - better in different colors
Spring and jaw fixator

I used 3 colors of PLA plastic, I liked how the green Esilk looks from it, I printed all the fish green, eyes and teeth in white, the pupils and spring and jaw fixator - in black.

After printing, it is necessary to remove the support and paste the teeth and eyes onto the superglue, the spring and the retainer are inserted without glue (in case of breakage, you can replace it with new ones)

Tolerances taken into account in the model, check the print bed setting (first layer) before printing.
Teeth, eyes and mechanics fit easily

Predatory fish with a movable jaw opening mechanism and fixation in the upper position.
To open the mouth, press both fins
I will post videos of work on my instagram

Mechanics, fish body and lower jaw printed in one piece

3D printing settings

File is suitable for printing on a printer with a table size of 200 x 200 mm along x and y axes and a height of 147 mm

If in the standard position the fish did not fit on the table, turn 45 degrees along the z axis

I uploaded 8 files to download
main model - FISH, eye right and left, pupils need to be printed twice (x2), spring and jaw retainer

The teeth are combined by a strip in several layers specifically so as not to be lost, the jaw is upper and lower separately. It is difficult to get confused 8) After printing, carefully cut and paste one at a time (I recommend from the center to the edge)

Print settings:

1) Fish - my settings
Green Esilk PLA
0.4 nozzle, layer 0.2 mm
3 perimeter, 6 top and bottom solid layers
infill 30%
support infill 30%, Max angle 55 deg, 2 dense support layers
Speed 40 mm/s
Printing time: two days and 15 hours - I waited a long time 8)

Plastic weight: 490g

2) teeth printing (top and bot) - my settings

I did not use support - did not change other settings
Speed is lower, about 25 mm/s
I not used skirts
Printing time: less than 1 hour - I stood and watched 8)

I used superglue gel - check the inclination of the teeth with the foto when gluing

You can use not 0.2 layer but a layer with a height of 0.1 mm - so the teeth will look better, time doesn’t add much

3) I printed all eyes on the settings for the teeth.
can reduce the number of perimeters and filling
no support needed

You can use several colors - it will be more interesting

4) I printed the spring without filling, I need to configure it so that it is solved with perimeters in places that should bend, otherwise it may break

Gcode is shown in the photo - you must also configure

5) jaw fixator - settings for teeth

Total printing time - about 3 days
Dimensions XYZ 181 x 216 x 147 mm
