3D model description

This is my attempt at creating a tool-less and hardware free phone mount. The catch is that it will only fit a select type of tripods. My tripod has a 41 mm x 41 mm mount plate and this is a perfect fit. I believe this is called a 3502 Quick Release, but a QS-29 should fit as well. The tallest piece will slide through the mount plate and then the cap can have a rubber band secured and hooked to the bottom of that plate. On my printer all of these parts make a nice fit. The only part I sand is where I remove the brim (needed to prevent curling). This mount is designed to be moderately universal. I designed it with 4 - 5 inch phones in mind (~70 mm width). I have an HTC DNA and my girlfriend has a Nexus 4.

3D printing settings

This should print just fine in either PLA or ABS. I have it printed in ABS and its a really nice fit with almost zero sanding. The only thing I sand are the perimeters if you use a brim.

Print the pieces with a 5 mm brim to avoid corner curling.

I print this with 20 % infill and zero supports.

The mounting plate as some supports in place to keep the upside down phone slot from drooping. I use a pair a tweezers to just peel these strips out, then lightly sand the path. You may like to keep it rough for a better grip on your phone.

A small rubber band will give your holster an elastic function. With out an elastic band your phone is more likely to fall out and break.
