3D model description

Human Gyroscope Extruder Indicator (2 sizes)

A fun way to see if your extruder is feeding filament through to the printing model. The largest extruder indicator model I know of.

To make the gyroscope run freely as possible you need the least amount of contact between one ring and another. Although the pins must be long enough to ensure they do not come apart whilst shaking on the printer.
I found testing the gyroscope before use and it rattles gives the best results. It should remain intact even shaking quite hard.
To cater for different settings users may have on their printers I have printed the rings separate.
Once printed the small amount of flexibility in the filament allows the rings to be attached inside each other.

I made the smaller of the two gyroscopes first as this is my default diameter. However, on realising that the gyroscope does not obstruct the below fan I decided to make a larger Gyroscope. The larger Gyroscope is my favourite of the two.

3D printing settings

Printed in PLA, 0.15 mm layers, 15% infill. No supports required.
I have brightened the models by mixing the prints in different colours.
Printed on the same bed separate to protect the spinning pins.
The model requires an 8 mm diameter by 3 mm depth rare earth magnet. (Neodymium magnet)

A small amount of superglue is required for the magnet and for gluing the magnet section to the outer ring.
