3D model description

Functional thrust reversers for the High Bypass Engine Nacelle. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/high-bypass-engine-nacelle

These will directly replace the existing non-functioning reversers. They are manually operated and are a nice addition to the high bypass jet engine model. They are modeled after the reversers on the inboard Trent 900 engines used on the A380. While they are perfect addition to the complete jet engine model, they are also an interesting functional demonstration model all by themselves.

The Trent 900 does not use chevroned cowls. However, due to numerous requests, a chevroned version has been included. The chevroned version should be considered bonus content only since it is not true to scale. Also, as mentioned in the 3D printing settings below, the chevroned cowls should be considered VERY difficult to 3D print. The reverser cowls with the straight trailing edge will be quite easy to print.

The straight reverser cowls are more scale like in appearance and are much easier to print. Even for a novice.

Chevroned** and straight translating cowls

The largest of these parts will fit inside 200mm wide x 200mm deep x 185mm high bed. (240mm Dia x 182mm high delta.)
Split parts will fit inside 125mm wide x 120mm deep x 185mm high bed. (175mm Dia x 182mm high delta.)

3D printing settings

0.15mm layer height. No supports needed from the slicer except for the chevroned cowls.** The transcowls (TN1-164-1S and TN1-165-1S) STLs have integrated supports. Printing supports are not provided for the chevroned cowls. 40% infill. All STLs are in the correct orientation for printing.

STL files with an S suffix on the part number have built in supports. No additional supports are required from the slicer if these files are used. They will save time and filament and should work better than slicer generated supports. NOTE: It is extremely important to use the recommended print settings (layer height, etc.) on STL files with built in supports. SOME BUILT IN PRINT SUPPORTS MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE IF THE RECOMMENDED PRINT SETTINGS ARE NOT USED.

** The chevroned Cowls should be considered VERY difficult to print. No built in supports are provided for the chevroned cowls and slicer generated supports will take much tweaking to get correct. DO NOT attempt to print the chevroned cowl if you do not have significant 3d printing experience. On the other hand, the standard straight reverser cowls will be quite easy to print.
