Bees are chosen as they are insects that deserve special attention, since it is estimated that 70-80% of flowering plants depend on bees for pollination.

Hence Albert Einstein predicted, "If bees were to disappear, mankind would have only four years to live."

The model comprises a male bee (drone) to study its anatomy, it is a very realistic model in which its body parts are highlighted. Some parts are exaggerated so that the educator can make reference to them and the function they do.

Some parts, such as limbs and antennae, in the real insect are very thin. The thickness has been exaggerated to make printing possible. Still the model should be handled with care to avoid breaking the thin parts.
