3D model description

EDIT - 18.02.2020:

Added a new D-pad. The new D-pad has angles by each direction, reducing the chance of mis-clicking diagonally. Check my Amiga-gamepad page for new back pieces with better leverage for the D-pad for less force required. I haven't made a dedicated back piece for this one yet.

Gamepad for Atari consoles and computers.

Some pictures show my Amiga gamepad, which is the same internally and uses the same switches.

Apply pieces of double sided tape to the underside of all the buttons to give a less hard feel. Leave the protective film on the double sided tape.

Use 6x6x7mm tactile switches: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Momentary-Tactile-Push-Button-Switch-6-6-4-3-15mm-Mini-Micro-Small-PCB-Mounted/263259205523

Wire the switches according to the pinout in Amiga22.jpg. I wired mine up with lengths of wire and glued then into the bottom half of the gamepad with a drop of superglue under each switch.

The sliding switch is there to turn the rightmost button into an "up" function so that you can play without having to use the D-pad to jump. You can wire it so that it switches between button 2 and up, or however you like. This switch is a drop in fit, but many other switches can be used by filling the gaps with tape or hot glue: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Pcs-DC-50V-0-5A-2-Position-DPDT-2P2T-PCB-Mount-Vertical-Slide-Switch-6-Pin-DIP/323744692280

Use a M3x8 mm pan head screw in the center under the D-pad, as shown in one picture, to function as a pivot. Adjust the screw height until desired feel is achieved. I like to set it so that I can't push all four directions simulataneously.

Gamepad02 - Comfortable bottom half
Gamepad03 - Snes-like bottom half
Gamepad04 - Button 1

3D printing settings

Print buttons and plug housing with 100% infill

Print casing with 10% infill and no more than 0,12 mm layer height for good quality. Use high cooling fan speed to achieve good bridging and loose supports.

Don't generate any support. The top and bottom halves have integrated support that will be easy to remove after printing as logn as a good cooling fan is used.
