I've designed a thinner version for the 50x50mm (because the 50mm panels are cheaper and easier to get).

I needed some bright long life lights for an outdoor fence. This is one style I designed just for this purpose. After several tests and revisions, they work great.. Even at 4am I go out and they are still on. This is designed for 60x60mm 2v solar panel, very common on ebay or aliexpress.

Parts:
1) yx805 solar light chip
1) 33uH inductor
1) 1 watt led (low enough ma so no heat sink needed)
1) (approx) 600-1800ma nicad battery
1) 60x60mm 2v solar cell

Print and build circuit given or one of your own.
