3D model description

This birdcage is a functional prop, easy to print and to assembly. I designed and made this for my daughter who used it as prop to hold a owl when doing cosplay for a Harry Potter themed party.

It's 16 x 26 cm and for the bars it uses 1,75mm filament.

3D printing settings

For assembly the bars are 1,75mm filament. You'll need the following lenghts. (take a bit longer, you can easely clip it to size when building the cage)

  • 13x 250mm
  • 03x 70mm (straight bars below the door)
  • 03x 110mm (bended bars above the door)
  • 03x 80mm (straight bars for the door itself)

Follow the pictures, colors indicative you can print in combinations you like yourself offcrouse:

  • take the base *red
  • add the beams into the slots *green
  • add the connectingdisc *blue and glue it.
  • slide the lower and upperdisc *yellow untill they are in place. Mind that the holes line up to the base. (so your bars are straight)
  • add the topclosure *orange, glue it.
  • you now can add the filament or "bars" *grey but wait with the last one *blue. Because this one functions as a hinge as well.
  • While sliding the last bar *blue, place the upperdoorhinge - slide the bar further and add the lowerdoorhinge. Slide the bar down to the base.
  • Last is to add bars to the door (3x 80mm)
  • The floor is optional, meaning you can use a piece of cardboard or foamboard for that.

Good Luck, if you need any help or extra info please contact me!
