Yep,

also for me, the time has come to try create a standalone version of my beloved / hated cr-10!

You will not find here "new" or "Never seen before" stuff, is a standalone mod, so means that you will take everything what is inside the control box, and you will place it directly on the machine (in this case, under the machine).

My main goal was to get rid of the OEM control box due to the terrible OEM "wiring" system between the box and the printer.
Every time I had to put my hands on the machine, the fact that the machine has some cables (very short...) easy to disconnect with fast connectors, and some other "fixed" (and short...) and possible to remove only by disconnecting the "machine" side plugs, I spent a lot of my time in swearing against Creality engineers!!!.

I wanted something easy to move/transport, easy to customize (future proof, who knows...) and, of course, something that looks in some way "nice" to see.

In the starting project, the idea was to reuse all the electronic parts of the OEM machine, but, due to the fact that I needed the printer for print the test pieces, and due to the fact that I had the opportunity to do finally improve the machine, I decided to go for all new stuff.

For the occasion, I bought a MKS Gen L board, and the TMC 2208 Drivers for be able to finally make my CR-10 Silent, and moddable! Furthermore I decided to go for a touch screen MKS TFT32 (USB and SD integrated) instead of the classic Creality Display

The layout foresee "modular" base plates, for each group of internal components, and can be combined as you prefer (the available space still the same, but during the project phase I found the modular stuff really useful!).

For remove one extra cable from my desk, I integrated the Raspberry Pi 3B with Octoprint inside the case, as well as per the Sonoff switch for remotely turn on and off the printer.

On the PSU I've installed a 60mm silent Fan (the original one was noisy), and for do this, I had to modify and cut the PSU aluminum Cover (the new fan is thicker than the old one).

The project is in Progress, In my spare time I am improving some functionality, and adding some extra stuff that I will post as soon as will be ready.

My Standalone Mod is not intended for be the "law", it is good for me as it is, I made mainly for myself, and for now it fully satisfy all my needs!

Some photos of the printed mod installed on the machine may differ from the STL, due to the fact that my machine is a Prototype, and I decided to change some details after discover some potential "issues" (so I updated the models, but for lack of time, I didn't print again the pieces). Furthermore, my machine has also been "modded" from the OEM CR-10 (Braces, some supports or other stuff that now I can't remember...) so the Mod purposed in this page may not fit your machine.. better to double check everything, and in needs, ask in the posts: I will be happy to answer/help!

Due to the fact that the mod involve a lot of "Wiring", soldering and "electrical stuff", be sure you know exactly what you are doing! I am not responsible for your work and your safety!

I will not support "Custom Mods" requests, sorry but I have not too much free time!

Update of 08/09/2019

Added the top front panels STL.
I decided to go for printed top panels instead of a single big sheet of ABS because this solution is more "flexible" for my purposes.
I still work on the top back panels...so, stay tuned!

Update of 14/09/2019

Added the missing top panels.
For an "easy" removal of the printer from the bottom box, I added an Electrical Hub that contain the connectors for the Z limit switch and the Z motor wires (in my machine I use a dual motor, controlled by only one drive, so all the wires are common to the two Z motors).

Update of 31/12/2019

I made some modifications to the original project...
- Added a separate power supply and relative on/off switch for the Raspberry, in order to made it separate from the printer (used a raspberry pi 4 power supply, due to the compact size)
- Added an external USB-B port and relative on/off switch for be able to connect the printer to the computer in case I need to Flash the Firmware (used a 2 ways usb-b switch)
