3D model description

My wife works at an elementary school running the Learning center (Library) and computer lab and this years theme is 'Learning is Our Super Power' which means the entire school decorated with Super Heroes and all things surrounding super heroes.

One of the items my wife made was a 'Kryptonite' display. We wanted to display it in a glass (plexiglass) case with steel angle iron and diamond plate. I made a base out of wood and welded the angle iron. I then designed a light fixture to light up the kryptonite from underneath using an LED Halogen replacement light.

While running my first design, we tested the light under the kryptonite and after about an hour, even though it was an led and not halogen, it was hovering at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit which was much too hot and began melting her kryptonite.

I then redesigned the light fixture to also contain two 30mm cooling fans, one pulling air and the other pushing air. My thought was to create a channel where the air would blow across the top of the light via the push/pull fans and I would enclose the top with plexiglass. I also created space in the bottom to tuck wires.

The new light fixture (the one published here) works perfectly and does not run over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

I designed it to be mounted from under a fixture and so there are four countersunk screw holes for mounting. Also, as mentioned before, there is space under the light and under the cooling fan channels for tucking excess wiring. There is a recessed area above the light to mount a piece of plexiglass or glass.

The following are the items I used for the light:
