Wireless phone charging stand!
After a hard day’s work Instagramming, texting and trawling through Facebook
Just rest your phone atop this minimalistic stand - displaying it with pride, while rejuvenating it's weary battery.
In the fast pace world today, a time saving device like this is a crucial addition to your arsenal of time saving technology.
(Time and effort finding you charger and the illusive port to plug it into, is one of the top causes of inefficiency and time wasting for the average 3D printer owner today!)
Ok, admittedly the statistic above could do with further research so may lack credibility - But an increasing number of smartphones being released onto the market are QI enabled.
The secret behind this phone stand is the Adafruit QI wireless charging transmitter housed inside it.
It may not be the crucial time-saving gadget that I initially intimated -
but no one can deny the interest and cool factor of wireless charging!
This isn't really one for apple fans for the time being (as the iPhone requires case plugged into the phone to draw power from the wireless transmitter - really defeating the aim of wireless charging, in my humble opinion anyway) .
However an increasing number of smartphones being released onto the market already come with QI charging, capabilities built in!
The google nexus 4, nexus 5, nexus 6 and 7.
HTC Droid DNA & 8x.
The Motorola Droid Maxx & droid mini.
....and the Nokia Lumia 920, 928, 929, 930, 1020 and 1050 are a small selection on the list of compatible smartphones.
- If you own a relatively new smartphone and aren't sure, google the model - along with 'QI charging compatibility' to find out.
Personally, I'm fascinated by the wireless technology becoming available.
Although its only short range - still quite a novelty to see QI devices charging, as if by magic!
I modelled this phone stand in a minimalistic style using Solidworks - so could be included comfortably on an office desk, shelf, beside table and the like.
Displaying your most indispensable device proudly, and making sure it's really to go when you need it!
Print the parts of the phone case in the orientations the parts open.
Slide the QI charging transmitter into the middle of the case, with the wire coil facing outwards (towards the phone).
Keep it in place with the two sides of the stand that clip into place, and hold the board in the correct position.
Plug the USB power wire into the QI board through the space in the back of the stand.
Situate in pride of place and get ready to amaze those around you with your voodoo phone charging abilities!
