3D model description

Soyuz MS is the most recent version of the well-seasoned Soyuz spacecraft family. It is based on the well-stablished TMA and TMA-M variants and since 2016 has achieved 15 crewed mission to ISS. Until the debut of new crewed systems such as Dragon 2, Starliner, Orion and Dream Chaser, it will be the only craft capable of taking humans to and from space safely.

The model was designed using the main TMA, TMA-M and TMS references available in the specialised media and publications. It captures the details of the spacecraft in its flight condition, with main antennas, panels, navigation and docking systems all deployed. Visual accuracy was the main focus when designing the model, with attention to details and dimensions, while still providing something printable (in 1G :P ). As a bonus, the model comes with a display support inspired by the iconic Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow, referring to the soviet era of spaceflight.

The scale of 1/32 is a good trade-off between printing time, size and details, requiring a regular 200X200 mm printing bed and a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. Any scale larger than 1/32 is compatible and will certainly enhance the details of the model. For smaller scales it is recommended to use smaller nozzles (0.3 mm and 0.2 mm ). The tolerances are well within 0.2 to 0.5 mm so just minor sanding and filling will be required if you have a tuned printer. The assembly process is self-intuitive and does not require any special tools other than glue, files and sandpaper for the finishing. A detailed PDF file presents the identification of parts general instructions where it is needed.

If you are a space head like I am, now you can have the workhorse of manned spaceflight right on your desk. I hope you enjoy the printing and assembly of this model as much as I did. If you have any feedback, questions or suggestions feel free to contact me. Other models such as the TMA-M and different configurations will be released soon.

Cheers!

Layer heights and support are suggested in the instruction for each file. Infill ranging from 15% to 20% suits most of the parts.
