3D model description

Update 5/4/2018:

This version still breaks too easily. I have uploaded version 3, which I have tested for two seasons now without it breaking. I recommend getting it instead. It's called Brake Gear for Clicgear Golf Cart ver 3. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2892709

Update 4/16/2016:

When I first uploaded this thing last fall, it was at the end of golf season here in the Pacific Northwest. I didn't get to give it much of a test. Now that I have started golfing again this season, I realize that the original design (modeled after the factory gear) is just too weak. I have manged to break at least 3 of them so far.

I have redesigned the gear to have much thicker 'cogs'. The brake still works about the same as with the factory gear. It is only slightly harder to get the pin to drop into the space between the cogs. So far, with about 4 rounds of golf on the prototype, it is holding up very well. I have uploaded it as v2.0. Print it in ABS at .2mm and 100% infill. Skip the acetone, it doesn't help.

Original description:

Broke the brake gear on my Clicgear model 3.5+ golf cart. Even though I could get one from Clicgear for about $5.00, I wanted to see if I could make one instead. This one fits perfectly, but don't know if it is strong enough to hold up in use. I printed it in ABS at .15 mm and 100% infill. Then I dunked it into acetone for a couple of seconds. From what I've read, that should make it as strong as possible.

The one that Clicgear sells fits models 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5+ carts, so this one should, too.

I included a picture of the broken one for reference.
