My Cousin asked me to make him a new crankcase for his daughter's bike (the old one being broken). So I made him one with his daughter's first name, Eline.

I chose to print this model in two colors (black and white) with two thread changes during printing.

I change wires after 1mm of printing and 1mm later, the rendering is great. The pattern stands out really well and the line all around the circumference looks really good.

Of course, you can choose your own colours :D.

I designed this Carter model to be stronger than the old one, and as a result, it's really stronger.

This crankcase is compatible with 20" and 24" bikes. I did not check the others, you can refer to the attached picture to check if it is compatible with your bike.

Dimensions (see drawings):

Outside diameter = Ø165mm

Inside inscribed diameter = Ø92mm

Position diameter of screw holes = Ø106mm

The holes are Ø2mm, so it is possible to drill them if the screws are bigger.

3D printing settings

Material: PLA Ø1.75mm

Layer thickness: 0.2mm

Support : None

Adhesion: None

Filling: 60%.

I also increased the number of lines for the hull creation (3 lines), this makes the whole thing more resistant and gives more room for screwing.

Tips to increase the adhesion to the tray during the first coat :

  • Print the first layer more slowly (15mm/s instead of 20mm/s)

  • Increase the initial layer line width (120% instead of 100%)
