3D model description

WHAT IS IT?
-This device is a passive WIFI router signal range extender! It also works for RC transmitters!

FOR REAL? HOW DOES IT WORK?
-Yes. TLDR: Its like a little satellite dish, the parabolic shape of the frame is derived from the wavelength that WIFI uses. It works by shifting the profile of your overall usable wifi range from a big circle into a sort of cone, reducing range on the back & amplifying it at the front! (See the bottom of this listing for the nerdy explanation!)

WHY DO I NEED THIS?
Typically to get good range from your home WIFI router you should mount it in a high centrally located place. Unfortunately your home layout may not always allow you to follow those rules and you have to place the router in a corner/basement & end up with a bad connection in some parts of the house or outside.

EXACT DIMENSIONS:
-2" x 4" x height selected (Ether 4" or 6" model)

VERY IMPORTANT
- A metal insert is required! We recommend cutting a soda can & shoving it in as shown.

NERDY EXPLANATION OF HOW IT WORKS
Basically wireless internet routers use signal frequencies at 2.4Ghz and/or 5 Ghz. The 5Ghz is a higher frequency wave which enables faster communication but also has a shorter range because high frequencies dissipate energy faster. Conversely 2.4g has a longer reach but is slower. In any case this reflector works well at either frequency because the 2.4 & 5 ghz wavelengths are actually even multiples of each other since the short hand 2.4 & 5 are rounded. But the point is the wavelength of the signal is known as is the source of the signal, so we use that to derive a reflector geometry that will reflect & combine the wave just right (positive superposition). These are the calculations I used to generate the parabola.
A) speed of light in air @stp = 299704764.38594 meters/sec
B) wifi wavelength 2.437 ghz = 2437000000 hz
C) wavelength in air = A/B = 122.981 mm
D) C/4 = Radius of circle used to define parabola = 30.745 mm = focal distance of parabolic reflector!
If you are really interested in the science behind this device check out this white paper, its fascinating.
