3D model description

I wanted a mount for my E3D on my RigidBot that works with Laser Weld Design's fully constrained block. I liked Walter's idea (and used it as major inspiration) but I wanted a few features his didn't have.

I didn't want to give up any z-height and I wanted to use my 40mm Noctua fan for cooling. I also wanted a part fan with a duct that surrounded the hot end. Finally I wanted to have a fully enclosed filament path because my old extruder kept getting cat hair in it. I would also like to have the filament spool on the table, not up above the machine.

I designed this using Inventor and all parts were designed with Objet printing in mind. They should all work just fine with FDM though.

Tap all of the holes M3 and use appropriate sized bolts to hold everything together. I pre-tapped all holes

The laser cut components are from 1/16" acrylic for the drive gear cover and 1/8" acrylic for the feed tube holder.

The fan duct is printed as a separate assembly so you can make changes easily. The current system is fine with the heat as the Objet resin doesn't burn or melt but if you print out of plastic you may have to put some polyacrylamide tape to insulate it.

There is a small, printed bridge that locks the main cable into place so it cannot come loose. This would probably be useful for all RigidBot owners.

Performance is rock solid and I have had no issues. I'm currently working on a feed system for the filament.

I know my assembly instructions are largely non-existent but if you have questions I'm here! I think this should work with FDM printing but I don't warrant that in any way.
