3D model description

Thanks to a set of elliptical gears, the movements of the decorations on this Christmas tree fluctuate perpetually!

To make it work, you will need in addition to the parts to be printed a DC motor 3 - 6 V and a power supply box of 2 AA batteries. The motor, batteries and switch are hidden in the gifts at the foot of the Christmas tree.

You can also find a new version of this Christmas tree powered by a music box mechanism on Cults!

For the motor, switch and battery box, I used the [B07SLTRH8W] kit(https://www.amazon.fr/Her-Kindness-Electrique-Rectangulaire-5PcsInterrupteur/dp/B07SLTRH8W/)

Also provide 3 pins of Ø3 mm, I used Ø3.1 x 70 mm nails cut to the following lengths for this:

  • 50 mm for the wheel and worm gear made in the foot of the tree (glue the pinions with cyanoacrylate glue)

  • 26 mm for the axis of the star at the top of the tree

  • 30 mm for the axis of the fir tree entrance (glue the pinions with cyanoacrylate glue)

Finally a rubber band is used as a transmission belt to drive the star at the top of the tree.

Size of the tree: Width 16 cm x Depth 8 cm x Height 20 cm

Version 2: Creation of the motor box at the foot of the tree and the decoration objects of the tree in 3D version (apple, gift and candy cane)

3D printing settings

PLA printing

Thickness per layer of 0.2 mm

Wall thickness of 1.2 mm

Apart from the "gifts at the foot of the tree" box and 3D candy canes, you don't need a stand for printing these parts by choosing an optimal orientation.

Filament used on the model shown:

Chromatik white

Chromatik Gold

Chromatik Fire Engine Red
