3D model description

The world's shark population faces many seemingly insurmountable challenges: each year, over 100 million sharks are slaughtered for their fins; climate change is disrupting marine habitats and food chains. If you like this design and want to contribute to research and protection for these beautiful aquatic predators, please consider donating to the following organizations:

The Shark Research Institute provides rigorous, peer-reviewed scientific data, analysis, and research to policymakers, organizations, and individuals to help them serve shark populations.

Project Hiu provides alternative income streams for shark fishermen, in one of Indonesia's largest shark fisheries and worldwide.

The Sea Shepherds use a more direct approach to protecting sharks: their fleet of ships exposes, intercepts, and opposes illegal operations that damage and destroy marine wildlife and habitats.

The Great Hammerhead, the largest of the hammerhead sharks, is an iconic and beautiful shark species distinguished by its nearly straight, hammer-shaped head (as opposed to the more curved heads of other hammerhead species). They're solitary predators and can migrate distances upward of 800 miles (~1250 km) alone.

This design is a low-poly, anatomically correct (to the extent that this is possible with 3d printing) Great Hammerhead shark that prints on its nose with no supports. The example was printed in Colorfabb Grey-Blue PLA/PHA.

3D printing settings

This object prints on its nose with no supports. Print with a brim so that it remains adhered to the bed.

The fins have pretty difficult overhangs, so make sure you reduce layer heights and have your printer well-calibrated for overhangs.
