Creality CR10 v2 and v3 Case Slot Cover and Access Door Cover for 3DUpfitters Acrylic Case – 2/7/21

Designed by JWizard

Acrylic Cases are great for blocking emission when doing 3d printing. What we have found out was occasionally we would smell the PLA in the room. Warm air rises to the top and escapes from the top of the case. We decided to create a slot cover, guide wire cover and an access door cover for 3DUpfitters Creality CR10v3 acrylic case that would allow fewer emission to escape from the case. We suggest printing the cover pieces in TPU so it would create a nice seal in the open slots to block emissions. We sized the top cover so that it will not rub as the filament passes through the hole.

You can always open the top slot more by reducing the size of the top cover so the filament moves more freely. We suggest printing the top cover as it stands and then you can adjust the size to your liking/needs afterwards.

The top slot cover was created in a few pieces because the slot is too long for the printer to print it out as a single piece. For the top slot, place all the pieces in the slot in the order listed below to see how they close the slot. It would be helpful to have a filament in the filament guide as you position the slot cover around the filament. Make sure the filament can move freely between the pieces of the top slot cover when positioning the slot cover pieces.

We decided also to create the access door cover. First make sure that you only have a void in the center where to the two access doors meet. This is where you will insert the access door cover. You will need to print out two of the access door cover strips to close the side slot. You may have to adjust the door screws so that you have an even void in the middle. We made these strips snug so they will not fall out. Do not crack your acrylic case by over tightening the screws.
