Wood Shop Style Gumball Machine

Did you ever make one of these in wood shop? Well, as part of my grade 8 home ec class hop (we had to try EVERY home ec elective in grade 8) every student had to make one of these out of wood. I couldn't find an STL for one of these, so I whipped one up myself.

Uses a standard size mason jar. The jar threads are built in to the design, so there's no need to attach a jar ring to it!

I haven't tested this iteration; the first one I printed needed to be shaken to settle the next gumball into the nose. So I made the hole bigger.

Print both pieces, then use an M3 screw to attach the nose from the back. Don't tighten all the way; the screw should be firmly in the nose but the nose should spin freely. Make sure the hole in the nose piece is aligned properly (printed as designed the nose should be flush against the back to be properly aligned).

This is my first ever design that I have submitted anywhere. I made it for myself and my kids, and I'm not a designer by trade, so I'm not looking to make money off of this. If you print this and want to sell it, go right ahead. Modify it to your heart's content. Just don't claim it's your design and sell it somewhere else, that's bad karma. And hey, if you like it and want to throw me some spare change, all the better.

I printed with only an 8% infill (Gyroid pattern) and it is plenty solid. I also printed mine face up (literally) and it worked great; I imagine printing it right-side-up will work just as well. I recommend using tree supports; they come off much more easily. You probably don't need supports on the inside, but I did use supports, so I don't know. I haven't printed the version I've posted here 'cause the first version was good enough for my purposes, otherwise I would have tested it without supports inside to test. Sorry!
