Cable Cord Winder Storage Reel For Game Controller Cable Chord Or Other large Diameter Wire, Size Medium

This print in place model prints in one shot and lets you tidy up your long and oversized HDMI or USB cable or similar cords/string/rope by winding them up inside for neat and tidy storage. It was initially designed for a game controller cable which is a both fat and long USB cable, and fits that easily.

Simply find the anchor peg through the large slot opening, form a u-shape with the cable about mid-length, slip the "U" behind the anchor peg, then wind it up by one of the handles on the sides.

Be sure to guide the cable away from the peg end of the slot, otherwise it will resist winding up.

Cable length capacity will vary, but a fat 6 foot (~2 meter) HDMI cable easily fits inside (the connectors remain outside as in the photo). A smaller diameter cable could fit a much longer length.

Simply print flat side down with no supports.

Many settings and materials can work. One successful combination is .5mm nozzle, .3mm layer height, of PLA.

Once printed you must dislodge the seams between the two parts, to allow the inner drum to rotate independently of the outer housing. To do this, at both ends press in at the outer circle of the inner drum, working your way around the circle, until you can feel that it is separated all the way around. If some spots are stubborn then a light whack with a rubber mallet or similar can easily free up stubborn regions.
