3D model description

Nothing new really but it can be a handy technique if you need support and the one offered by your slicing software isn´t good enough.

A cylinder is quite a good example i think, i´ve tried many different ways (ok, standing it up doesn´t count in this case) but it always come out rather useless.

Of course you can add this technique to lot´s of other shapes aswell, it´s just an example.

3D printing settings

Open up your CAD software, draw your shape (in this case a cylinder), add support like in the pictures, BUT leave a gap between the two pieces, in this case it´s 0,2mm but you might have to change this to play well with your printer

Print and remove the support carefully with a knife. If there is a need for excessive force there´s not enough gap between the parts or the shape is to complex. Of course you can´t have to much of a gap either...
