3D model description

Do you have an Athearn Genesis (Samhongsa) USRA 2-8-2 Mikado Locomotive? If so, then you need to add cab curtains for that extra dose of realism. Federal and state laws made cab curtains mandatory for all locomotives in the early 20th Century, well before the diesel locomotive era. Northern railroads in the United States and Canada had used them extensively for decades before becoming a legal requirement.

These removable mounts allow you affix cab curtains to your precious locomotive without fear. If you mess up gluing/attaching the curtains to the fixture, simply print another one! No harm, no foul.

Following Chad Zentz's used tea bag technique for creating the curtains works exceptionally well and provides realistic results. Refer to www.fiferhobby.com/making-a-cup-of-tea-and-a-canvas-curtain-for-a-steam-locomotive/ or www.issuu.com/mr-hobbyist/docs/mrh11-11-nov2011-ol/79?viewMode=presentation for a detailed and illustrated description of this method.

There are two mounts that clip into the cab. The first is used to mount cab curtains in the stowed position. The second mounts the curtains in the extended position for static display and clips into the first mount, hiding it from view. Removal of the first clip is not required nor is it recommended. However, the extended curtains don't seem to flex enough and will cause derailment on 22" radius track in HO scale. They are great for a static display or diorama, however.

ENJOY. I DO!
