3D model description

Update: Jan 23, 2021. Have shot nearly a case worth of paint thru these mags. A few chops, but not sure if that is the mag, Tipx or trigger fingers fault haha. I do like that they are somewhere between the TIPX 12 round and the 7 round in size. The 12 rounds are nice but they are just SUPER long and sometimes not ideal on my rig.

Also added a RHS file specifically for those wanting to use this for a TMC conversion. In the magwell of the TMC there is a small extrusion closest to where the top of the mag would be. On TMC mags there is a little cut out to accomodate this extrusion. So I did the same for these. Without that cut out the mags are pinched, and while its nice that they stay in place, they are a pain to unload from the marker. So if you printed the original file, you can sand down this area...or you can print the updated RHS_TMC file that includes this cut out.

I have NOT shot FSR through these. I plan to shoot maybe 1 or 2 mags for testing...but since I do not use FSR usually, this is simply to ensure it feeds in a real use situation. I have 10 rounds (mix of plastic dummy rounds, 1 real FSR and 3d printed rounds) that I used to make sure they load and unload from the mag properly. Also made sure that they chamber properly in the TIPX. Have not actually fired any.

Will report back when FSRs have been tested.

Edit Dec 07, 2020: Added Follower_v3 for alteration #7. Testing continues.

Buddy has a TMC that he wanted to use TIPX mags for. Printed a Zetamag adapter https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4486983 for it and figured it'd be better to print a mag instead of buying the zetas which I find too flimsy/weak for the way some people play. They crack/break when you drop them on the ground kind of thing.

Found the tipx mag here and went for it.

Parts:

I borrowed a 15mm x 4.5OD compression spring for the mag release mechanism from a tipx 12 round mag.

Also just m3 hardware for holding it together. Think it was m3x20mm screw and m3 lock nuts.

Also used a tippmann 12 round mag spring as well as a MCS Dmag 20round mag spring. Both worked great.

I did make some alterations to the original parts to suit my wants/needs better.

1) Recessed the m3 nut cut outs so the nut sits flush/below the body of the marker. Original design may be intended to use non-locking M3 nuts but I didn't have those on hand. The locking nuts stuck out and would drag/rub inside the TIPX magwell. Plus locking is better ;)

2) I made a v2 of the buttplate to have a screw hole clearance. While the design currently is very snug against the body of the mag. I wanted extra assurance it wouldn't pop off since it hold the main spring in the body. Only complaint is if the nut floats/moves in the body a short m3 screw won't grab it. Left the original here as well.

3) Made the body FSR compatible by making a D-shaped cut thru it.

4) Altered the Latch to be slimmer to allow for clearing of FSRs. Also made the guide pins on it wider to catch the guide slot in the body better. Original design it was loose and could get tweaked diagonally.

5) FSR's are basically impossible to load without opening the latch/gate. The fins basically get caught on the latch/round retaining gate. So I made a tool to help hold open the gate to load FSR's. Do not need this tool to load round ball, but it does make it easier.

6) Modded the mag release mechanism. Basically shortened the spring hole to have the spring slightly under compression. Also to not need such a long spring which I didn't have.

7) Updated the follower to be taller. The original one would load the first 9 rounds fine, but the last round would not be pushed high enough into the chamber.

Let me know how this works out!

Probably the largest I could make it since I only have a Prusa Mini which they really need to add as a Printer Model option in the drop down. It's been out a year already.

I still haven't shot this thing yet but i can load FSR and round ball just fine. And all 10 rounds eject when the mag release is held down. Will update as needed.
