We (myself and my 10yr old) wanted to have something unique to express where we have been across the world. He wasn't happy with a scratch-map and I wasn't happy with having a pin on a corkboard. After some thought storming, we came up with this - have a map and light-up the places we have been. The best way to do it? 3D print them and paint on top. There are multiple uses to these STLs:
Details of what we have done (option 1 above) will be published soon at: https://www.jyothisnair.com/oneworld/
To keep our DIY project running, we would like to request a nominal fee of 49$ for downloading all the 176 STLs (175 countries and 1 world).
Note: All files are included in the zip. The once see on preview are only few examples out of it...
Each country is an individual STL at a big scale. We printed snapped the entire map on a 120x80cm sheet at 34% of the orginal size. At 34% size, the STLs stand at around 2mm height and the borders at 0.5mm gap.
3D PRINTING SETTINGS We used white SPLA @230 | 65 *C Layers @0.1mm for high resolution Speed @50mm/s
Rest were standard settings. Just make sure you use quality PLA with sticks well on the bed in order get smaller scale prints come clean.
