3D model description

Vertebral implants are special artificial devices implanted into the spine of various shapes and sizes that serve as stabilizers, correctors of the direction and height of the spine, substitutes for individual elements of the spinal column that need to be removed and replaced.
Sometimes the vertebrae are displaced relative to each other more than normal and this causes pain and compression of the nerves. This condition is called instability of the vertebral segment. Instability can lead to displacement or slipping of the vertebra – spondylolisthesis. In cases of vertebral instability, in addition to removing a herniated disc or expanding the spinal canal, it is necessary to fix excessively mobile vertebrae. The most reliable way is to fix them with a cage and transpedicular screws.
During this intervention, the entire disc is removed along with the hernia, which excludes its reappearance.
The cage is a disk substitute, empty inside and filled with bone fragments removed earlier or artificial bone.
After removing the disc, the cage is installed in the disc after a small dilution of the vertebrae. This firmly fixes the cage and creates conditions for their fusion.
The operation ends with the final fastening of titanium screws and rods that firmly hold the vertebrae. Thus, pathological mobility and instability are eliminated. The vertebrae are securely fixed immediately after the operation, which allows the patient to walk and sit a few hours after the operation. Lifelong fusion of the vertebrae occurs within 4-6 months, when bone fusion of the vertebrae occurs – fusion.
