3D model description

I needed a case for the awesome Catan 2.0 game by Dakanzla (https://www.thingiverse.com/dakanzla/designs), but could only find This Make (https://www.thingiverse.com/make:583010) by user Morphius713 (https://www.thingiverse.com/morphius713/designs).

He published the STL files in the Make's comments so I downloaded the files and made some modifications.

First of all, I didn't want to have to print separators for each tile, so I modified the cores to have shelves instead.

For some reason, the heights Morphius713 provided for his separators didn't fit my printed 2.0 parts, so I made some adjustments to the heights per type of tile

Lastly, since the tiles are magnetics (I used this (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4751901/files) alternative base as I had 3mm Neodyn magnetic balls), I wanted to embed magnets in the core to better hold the parts in place. I had 8x3 mm magnets so I added holes for these magnets above each shelf, and these are the magnets that used to hold the core parts together. There are also STL files for a version without the magnets for each shelf

The shelves heights I used are:
- 13 pieces at 14 mm (4 Wheat, 4 Wood, 4 Wool, 1 Desert)
- 9 pieces at 22 mm (9 Harbors)
- 3 pieces at 19 mm (3 Brick)
- 3 pieces at 23 mm (3 Ore)
- Sea pieces goes on the top of each column and are stacked on one another

The order of the tiles is the same as described by Morphuis713 in his make, I'm adding it here with the adjusted sizes I used (order is bottom to top)

  • Column 1: 5 22mm, 2 14 mm
  • Column 2: 2 22mm, 2 23 mm, 1 19 mm, 1 14 mm, 4 Seas
  • Column 3: 1 22 mm, 1 23 mm, 2 19 mm, 3 14 mm, 3 Seas
  • Column 4: 1 22 mm, 7 14 mm, 2 Seas

This was printed entirely on an Ender 3 V2,
