3D model description

Consider this a 3D puzzle of the Nintendo Mario Kart. It consists of 39 individual parts made with 7 different colors.

I think you can assembly it without any instructions. That’s your challenge!! Anxious to see if you can. But I’ll give you a few pointers below. There are also a few pictures that may help with assembly – if you need it.

These parts have close fits. My printer (Prusa MK3s) holds tolerances very well but depending on your printer you may find that some of the parts will need to be filed and cleaned up a bit. I certainly hope not. The parts coming off my printer require little to no clean up. They just fit together. I can also dissemble it easily. Tiny parts are much more susceptible to tolerance problems. I’ve tried to get them as close as possible for an easy push fit. Hope it will work for you - without too much clean up. If there are parts that are just too tight or too loose fitting, perhaps you could use a very small amount of scaling in your slicer of choice. I am completely open for suggestions for improvements in the design, and will post updates if I do adjust the design.

Assembly pointers:
• Assemble the head, hat, hair, mustache, and eyes before assembling it to the body parts and Kart.
o Carefully fit the mustache in under the nose, then push it into the hole.
• There are a few parts that must be assembled before others. Just take your time – it’s a puzzle.
• If assembled carefully, it can be disassembled to allow others the challenge of assembly. My grandkids love it.

Also – please be VERY careful around young children!! There are many tiny parts in this assembly.

Parts List:

Notice that some parts will need to be copied - for a quantity greater than 1. I’ve also added my print times – as an indication if your print settings are close to mine. Hope it helps a little. The STL file names identify the appropriate color for the part, but you can make it whatever color you want.

• White Parts: (9 total parts, 57m), 1 Kart Body, 2 Side panels, 1 hat logo, 1 hood logo, 1 eye socket, 3 pins
• Red Parts: (5 total parts, 1h 27m), 1 hat, 1 hood, 1 side L, 1 side R, 1 arm
• Black Parts: (9 total parts, 1h59m), 1 frame, 1 front tire, 1 back tire, 1 steering wheel, 1 back hair, 1 hair top L, 1 hair top R, 1 mustache L, 1 mustache R
• Blue Parts: (5 total parts, 50m), 1 leg, 1 side L, 1 side R, 1 front, 2 eyes
• Yellow Parts: (6 total parts, 52m), 2 rear wheels, 2 front wheels, 1 pipe end, 1 flame
• Beige (or Tan) Parts: (3 total parts, 56m), 1 head L, 1 head R, 1 shoe
• Orange Part: (1 part,6m) (or you can use red), 1 flame inner

I put a lot of time into the design. Hope you enjoy it. - Paul

3D printing settings

• Refer to the include pictures to see how these parts should be setup on the build plate
• I use PLA for all parts (specifically Hacthbox PLA, but others should work fine)
• No supports required on any parts
• Layer height: .15mm
• Perimeters: 2
• Speed: Perimeters at 45mm/s, and Infill at 80 mm/s
• Infill: 15% density with Gyroid pattern
• Nozzle temp: 210c
• Bed temp: 60c
• These settings are defaults for PrusaSlicer with Prusa PLA
• These settings will ensure that the shrinkage you get will match what I designed the parts for
• I use a smooth build plate - best not to use textured as there are a few parts where a textured plate would impact the fit. Most parts will not be impacted, but some will.
