3D model description

This is an auto body paintless dent repair tool - PDR tools kit. ItΒ΄s a dent repair kit with lever-type dent puller for car body hail dent removal.

The idea for this design came up when my little beloved car suffered from a hail storm. Luckily, it was partially protected from most of the severity of this unfortunate event.
Therefore, I got interested in the PDR repair technique and got my hands on this design for a DIY dent remover for Automobile body repair, just to give it a try, without spending much money on this tryout.

After watching some videos on YouTube, I began with the job, that otherwise is pretty expensive, when done by a professional.
It requires the use of stronger hot glue sticks, that could be identified by its amber darker color or black color, depending on the compound.

This work has to be done on warm weather or the careful use of an air heat gun is recommended. Also, to get the hot glue off the car body surface and the tabs you should use isopropyl alcohol. Other alcohol is not effective.

Needed materials:
4 x M3x25mm screws
4 x M3 hex nuts
1 x M6x1mm-pitchx90mm long hex bolt
1 x steel rod of 5mm in diameter and 33mm in length, or you can opt for a screw of similar dimensions for the lever arm fixing.
2 x steel rod of 5mm in diameter and 46mm in length, or similar dimension screws for the feet fixing.
1 x steel coil 17mm of outer diameter x 1.5mm gauge x 40mm in length
Some EVA 3mm thick rubber sheet or similar, for feet cushion padding.

IMPORTANT NOTE: the STL files of all the metal hardware is provided only for a better illustration purpose and shall not be used as such.

3D printing settings

Printer used: Wanhao D6
Filament used: NTH Grilon3 PLA, +PLA, and ABS
Infill: 100%
Supports: I used support on the hollow parts and the also with overhangs.

I used PLA for the larger parts, such as the housing halves, and ABS for the feet and the mechanical components. It is suggested and well known that in order to achieve better strength, the nozzle temperature should be the higher possible.

ADVICE: Two version are available. The A and B options let you choose between using levers made of aluminun or hard wood. For simplicity, this option does not have a threaded end, to attach the fixed lever to the housing. Otherwise, there is the option B, that could be 3d-printed, and does have an M14x1.5mm-pitch threaded end, that let an easier disassembly of the tool, for storage.
