3D model description

A side loading bottle cage to hold standard bicycle water bottles (73 mm diameter) and will mount to standard bottle cage mounts (64 mm apart). It is optimised for 3D printing but will need some support material.

This bottle cage is slightly angled to provide more adhesion to the print surface. It uses a complete ring to hold the bottom of the bottle and has lips on the sides of the rings for vertical retention.

Please note: Depending on your shock configuration, it may come close to the lower ring. If there's not much clearance between the shock and the bottle cage, consider this alternate side loading bottle cage which doesn't have any material at the bottom end.

Included in the download is a parameterised fusion 360 file so you can fine tune the bottle cage for different size bottles and different mounting positions.

Fusion 360 parameters for side load bottle cage

I've included a free version for 375mL cans here for you to check out first. I've bundled it with the other style because I'm too lazy to make a new creation for it.

3D printing settings

By default, the design is for left side access. Mirror in your slicer if you want it facing the right. Supports on for this.

I've found PLA will work well initially but suffers from material creep if left in a hot car so the arms will be less springy over time. I've had good results with ABS and I'm sure PETG will be fine too.
