3D model description

Two customizable 3D Lissajous figures.

Viewed from each side, the major triad model shows the ratios of the notes in a major triad: the root, the major third and the fifth. When played in tune, the frequencies of these notes will be in the ratio 4:5:6. For example, an A major triad will have the frequencies 440:550:660.

The minor triad model is similar. However, the ratio is more complex, 10:12:15.

Notice how the minor triad model is more complex than the major triad model. In Western music, intervals with simple ratios sound more consonant, while intervals with more complex ratios sound more dissonant.

3D printing settings

This model list designs to not need supports for overhangs. However it does require supports for adhesion. Turn on supports for the first few layers.
