Description
Material: Walrus Ivory. Accession no: MG 028 A. Current location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick.
A figure of St John the Baptist. The figure is carved in relief and was attached to a larger object such as a shrine. He is shown standing, his right shoulder is bare and he is wearing a fur-fringed mantle. He holds a scroll in his left hand. The right hand is a replacement, the right foot is missing and the back is flat. There are two holes in the body for attachment. MG 028 B was attached to the same object but is by a different hand.
