The New Orleans class of cruiser consisted of 7 ships built for the United States Navy during the 1930s. due to their armament of 9 8 inch guns the New Orleans class were considered Heavy Cruisers and served throughout WW2. Three of their number were sunk at the battle of Savo Island in August 1942. Despite these heavy losses the class earned a total of 64 battle stars during the War.
This model is designed in the 1/1800 scale but can be printed in 1/2400 scale without appreciable loss of detail. The model comes as several STL files, one for the ships’ Hull and multiple sprues for the Bridge, turrets, cranes etc.
There are two sprues for the turrets, one has the turret barrels horizontal whilst the other has the barrels elevated to show the ship in combat.
We have tested a few of our designs at two additional scales: 1/3000 and 1/1200 which have all turned out really well. At 1/3000 scale though some components are very small and require additional patience when assembling.
