3D model description

One of my plants is very quickly growing. I was planning to buy some support/cage for it but I was unable to decide which of the many available models will be most optimal. Finally, I decided to design and print my own plant support.

Construction of the support is very easy. It is a combination of three legs and a ring. Ring and the legs are divided into smaller parts to make it possible to print them on the 3D printer with a 20x20 cm workspace. Parts can be connected together using glue and 3d printed connectors.

I designed three sizes of the ring:
- 20 cm - split into 3 parts/arcs
- 25 cm - split into 4 parts/arcs
- 30 cm - split into 5 parts/arcs
For each size of the ring, there is a dedicated version of the ring elements connector.

The leg is split into 3 parts: spike, end, and extender. The length of each part is equal to 15 cm. So if you will use only spike and end the total height of the support will be equal to about 30 cm. By adding one or more scalable extenders you can obtain a desirable high of the support.

In the pictures, you can see elements and construction process of support with a ring having 25 cm diameter and 45 cm long legs.

Construction was first glued together and then installed on the plant.

3D printing settings

I'm using the following settings:
- material: PLA
- layer: 0.2
- infill: 20%
- support: needed only for Support Leg End

Ring and leg elements were printed horizontally.
Connectors were printed vertically.
