Orcus, called the Blood Lord, the Skull King, Master of Vampires once was a mortal human, a mighty spellcaster or even a priest. After his death, his soul went to the Abyss where it became a common larva, as is usual with chaotic evil mortals.
Orcus rose through the demonic ranks, from larva to balor, eventually becoming demon lord and gaining the title of Prince of the Undead, a title once held by Demogorgon and also coveted by Graz’zt, which made them his enemies and rivals. Such was the might of Orcus that he even became full-fledged god.
But he grew complacent. He was assassinated by a Dark Elf goddess who usurped his powers and stole his mighty wand, the greatest artifact in his possession. Eventually, Orcus was resurrected by his cultists in an unholy ritual, which resulted in him loosing his godhood and becoming both undead and demon, which once again made him demon lord he once was and now the Demon Prince of the Undead.
Orcus rules the 113th layer of the Abyss.
