3D model description

2 Part Strap Clamp.

I wanted to design a corner strap clamp that could be printed without supports but the strap could still be threaded though, so would not part from the strap.

I also wanted to make it for any angle and width of strap.

This corner strap clamp can have an angle between 30 and 170 deg, fit straps between 20 and 60mm

I have included the Fusion 360 file so you can customise and make your own corner strap clamps for any shape projects and size of straps

I have included just one set of stl files these are for a 90 deg clamp, with a width of strap is 25.4 (1 inch)

The 5 parameters are a follows

ANGLE - Angle between the inner faces
STRAP_WIDTH - Width of strap in mm
CLAMP_WIDTH - This is the area that comes into contact with the work piece
STRAP_THICKNESS - Thickness of the strap
DEPTH_RADUS - Distance the strap is from the work piece and the radius the strap takes around the corners (increase for wider straps)

To change the parameters in Fusion 360 click on Modify and then Select "Change Parameters"

The Fusion models once exported as mesh files (Make sure "one file per body" is selected) one of them need to be turned over so the top surface is on the platform before printing.

Once printed the two parts need to be glued together. I used super glue and the clamps held together really well. The lugs and sockets may be a tight fit, so you will require a clamp to hold them together whist the glue sets.

Thanks

Update V2

I had a suggestion from "Nissenko" that the two parts of the clamp could be made identical, something that I had thought of originally but did not investigate further.

I have now made both parts identical. Each has a single location pin (lug) and a corresponding socket. See photos/screen dumps in red and blue, also the photos in red and white of a 120 deg clamp.

This does not change the functionality in anyway, just one single part. All the parameters can still be changed as the original model.

The new Fusion 360 file is "Corner Clamp Strap 2 Part V2.f3d" and the 90 deg 25.4mm stl file is "Corner Strap Clamp 90deg 25.4 V2.stl"

I have left the old model just in case anyone still wants to use it.

When you export the file as a Mesh from Fusion, make sure you only export the bottom (or top, they are identical!) see screen dump.

I have uploaded 9 stl files. Thee are all for 25.4mm (1 inch) wide straps at the following angles

30, 45, 60 72, 75, 105, 120, 135,150

File names

Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 150deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 135deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 120deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 105deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 75deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 72deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 60deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 45deg 25.4mm wide.stl
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 30deg 25.4mm wide.stl

Just in case uses have not got access to Fusion 360 or struggle to customise my original design.

Just print 2 of each and glue them together.

I have not printed any of these so please print at your own risk

Thank you "Michael Kubina (https://www.thingiverse.com/kooba/designs)" for the suggestion. Any other suggestion very welcome.

20/09/2021

After some more very welcome feedback from Michael. I have deleted the 72 deg clamp as this was required for a pentagon so should have been 108 deg

I have also tidied up the file names, deleted the original version 1 files and made sure all the files followed the same format.

2 files added

Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 90deg 25.4mm wide
Corner Strap Clamp 2 Part 108deg 25.4mm wide

Please let me have any feedback, any suggested modifications and photos of projects.
