3D model description

I wanted to mount a flag to my car for memorial day. Realized. I have a damned 3D printer. No duct tape and rope. lets MAKE something professional and permanent (reusable)

SO I made this. it slips over my 1 7/8ths inch ball. I believe it will also have enough play to fit a 2" ball though I can not test just yet (I will update when I do)

the flag pole goes in the smaller hole. you need to drill a 1/4" hole through your flag pole a 1/4" bolt goes through and secures the flag pole.

2 1/4" bolts go through the other two holes AFTER you slip it over the ball and they secure it snugly into place so it can not fall off.

the plastic alone is probably not strong enough. good strong gust or just go fast enough and even as thick as this it I am betting it would break.

now get one of those thick rubber bungie hook hold downs like this

http://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-6190-10-Inch-EPDM-Rubber/dp/B003DN3RC4

place that in your open hatch or trunk lid so it will NOT reach your flag pole without stretching a bit. close the hatch or trunk on the strap make sure its firm. now stretch and snap around your flag pole.

your done. the bungie will take the hits and force and keep those forces from translating into leverage force into your printed mount.

the mount now just has to hold the flag bottom in place and keep it from moving around which it did splendidly today all day while I was delivering pizza. Nice.

Just make sure you flag does not touch the ground when at rest. You will probably want most of the flag under the roof line to keep it from being ripped off especially if your going to go fast. I don't suggest for highway travel. even if the flag holds it might whip around and mar up your cars paint. I was fine up to 40mph I did not try faster and had no need to while delivering.

I will add more in place and ready to go pictures and video tomorrow when light is better (Dark by the time I got home tonight at 2200)

The part has a socket for the hex heads of the 1/4" bolts on the side I used a washer a lock washer and a wing nut so no tools are needed.

if you need to remove just spin off the flag shaft nut pop out the bolt and remove the flag. you can leave the mount in place for later or when more convenient to remove and it will remove the same way. spin off the wing nuts and remove.
