While experimenting with shapes we came across an egg-like design. We thought we could turn this into an Easter egg. Then we looked at this from a security perspective. If you were to print one of these eggs the same color as the eggs you buy, it would blend in with all your eggs. You can stash non-food, non-toxic items in the egg and keep this faux egg with your eggs in your fridge. Do not store food items in the egg due to bacterial concerns. The egg is threaded and screws together easily.

It was our goal to make the egg the same size as the eggs purchased from the store. After many design modifications our egg is very close to the same size as one of these eggs. To test out the appearance of our egg, we put the egg in the carton next to the other eggs. It blended right in with the rest of the eggs! If you print the egg in the same matte color as the store purchased eggs it should blend right in. Also you can create a bowl of these eggs to make it look like an Easter egg display in whatever colors you choose. We also included a basic bowl to hold your faux eggs.

Ideas:

This egg can be scaled proportionally to a larger size on all axes. If you scale the eggs non proportionally either it will not resemble an egg or the egg will not be able to screw together.

You can use any PLA filament. If you are using this egg from a security sake, pick a matte filament that matches the color of your eggs. If you are creating a bowl of Easter eggs, choose colorful and shiny PLAs to your liking.

If you are creating an Easter egg display you can optionally print out our basic bowl. The basic bowl can be resized anyway you like to meet your egg display needs.
